Head of Engineering

As the Head of Engineering at Aether, a specialized equipment engineering company based in Mohali, you will be responsible for leading and scaling the engineering function across both mechanical and electrical disciplines. Your role will involve owning and leading all aspects of engineering in the mechanical and electrical domains. You will build, lead, and mentor a team of engineers from diverse disciplines. Driving technical excellence in design, prototyping, validation, and delivery of complex equipment systems will be a key responsibility. Collaboration with product, operations, and leadership teams to align engineering with business objectives is essential. Establishing and optimizing engineering processes, documentation, and quality standards will be part of your role. You will be involved in making technical decisions ranging from architecture to materials and component choices. Ensuring timely delivery of projects while maintaining precision is crucial. Representing engineering in customer-facing discussions when required is also expected. To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or hardware engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. A strong background in equipment design, automation, electromechanical systems, or similar fields is necessary. You should be able to lead both hands-on design tasks and high-level systems thinking. Experience in working with early-stage or small teams and being comfortable with building from scratch is advantageous. Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential qualities for this role. Additional skills such as experience in manufacturing, testing, compliance, or industrial automation would be beneficial.
