Design Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a professional with practical experience in New Product Development , Design & Development , and the Manufacturing and Assembly of precision mechanical components , ideally from the Defence or Special Purpose Machine (SPM) industries. Key Responsibilities: Actively involved in Engineering Change Notes (ECN) and Engineering Change Requests (ECR) throughout the product/assembly lifecycle. Strong problem-solving abilities to support efficient manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication processes. Ability to suggest and implement design improvements using DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) methodologies. Capable of designing and developing jigs and fixtures to support production and ease of assembly. Exposure to shop floor activities and CNC machines is preferred. Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools is desirable. Skilled in collecting design inputs at the customer site through hand sketches and reverse engineering . Requirements: Maintain product documentation across the lifecycle of all products. Modify designs to enhance manufacturability , assembly efficiency , and product quality . Collaborate with R&D and Customer Support teams to improve product maintainability . Conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and resolve logistical issues. Strong understanding of production processes and methods . Effectively coordinate with internal teams to gather requirements and execute design tasks . Proficient in BOM (Bill of Materials) creation , version control , and ISO-compliant drawing generation using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) .
