Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and maintain the virtual infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V/Proxmox/KVM).
Perform VM provisioning, resource allocation, and configuration.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines, hosts, and storage.
Manage and monitor virtual networks, distributed switches, and storage (vSAN, NFS, iSCSI).
Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.
Support backup and disaster recovery processes for virtual environments.
Perform patching and upgrade of hypervisors and virtualization tools.
Respond to incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.
Document configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate with L1 teams and escalate issues to L3 as necessary.
Work with storage, network, and security teams for integrated virtual solutions.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Technical Skills:

Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, or Hyper-V
Knowledge of virtual networking, VM templates, and clustering
Familiar with snapshot management, vMotion, and HA/DRS
Experience with virtual storage technologies (SAN, NAS, vSAN, etc.)
Understanding of Linux and Windows OS administration in VMs
Basic scripting (PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Bash)
Familiarity with backup solutions like Veeam, Commvault, or Altaro
Basic understanding of ITIL processes and service management

Soft Skills:

Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
Effective communication and documentation abilities
Ability to work in a 24x7 environment (if required)
Proactive and team-oriented mindset

Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree (ECE,CSE), or related field
7 10 years of relevant experience in virtualization technologies
Certifications Preferred:
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Server+ or equivalent

Nice-to-Have:

Exposure to cloud virtualization (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, etc.)
Understanding of container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes
