Plant HR Generalist

Designation: Plant HR Generalist

Work Location: Chennai, TN

Candidates from Manufacturing background will only be considered.

Summary:

The Plant HR Generalist is responsible for managing all HR operations and administrative activities at the plant level. This role ensures seamless implementation of corporate HR strategies, policies, and initiatives while addressing plant-specific needs. The Generalist is critical in maintaining statutory compliance, managing blue-collar recruitment, and fostering a positive employee experience. Additionally, the Plant HR Generalist supports performance management, learning and development programs, quality management system (QMS) initiatives, and HR technology implementation to uphold organizational standards and contribute to plant-level efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

1.

  • Manage attendance, payroll processing, and employee records using HRMS tools.
  • Administer statutory compliance related to PF, ESI, Gratuity, and other regulations.

2.

  • Handle day-to-day recruitment and onboarding for blue-collar employees at the plant.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate HR Manager and COO to recruit workmen for special initiatives.

3.

  • Implement comprehensive onboarding programs at the plant to integrate new employees and familiarize them with company policies, safety protocols, and organizational culture.
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure role-specific onboarding and address new hire queries to enhance their onboarding experience.

  • Monitor the progress of new employees during the probation period and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.

  • Implement compensation and benefits strategies designed by the Corporate HR Manager.

5.

  • Execute plant-level rewards and recognition programs in coordination with the COO, department heads, and Corporate HR.

6.

  • Drive PMS processes at the plant, ensuring timely and effective completion of appraisals and reviews.
  • Coordinate with Corporate HR to provide plant-specific feedback for system improvements.

7.

  • Identify high-performing and high-potential employees at the plant through performance evaluations and collaborate with department heads to map critical roles.
  • Work with the Corporate HR Manager and COO to design and implement succession and career development plans tailored to plant-level employees.
  • Facilitate upskilling opportunities, mentorship programs, and leadership grooming initiatives to prepare employees for future roles.

8.

  • Implement LMS initiatives at the plant in collaboration with the Corporate HR Manager and COO.

9.

  • Implement HR technologies and automation at the plant level to optimize HR operations.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate HR Manager to ensure alignment with organizational systems.

10.

  • Act as the first point of contact for plant-level employee grievances and concerns.
  • Foster a positive work environment by addressing issues promptly and fairly.

11.

  • Ensure adherence to labor laws and statutory requirements.
  • Provide regular updates to the Corporate HR Manager on compliance matters.

12.

  • Oversee plant-level administrative tasks, including housekeeping, food services, visitor management, and security.
  • Manage daily operations within budget and quality parameters.

13.

  • Maintain QMS compliance at the plant level, ensuring readiness for audits.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate HR Manager to address internal audit findings.

14.

  • Provide timely and accurate data for monthly review meetings and other reporting activities.

15.

  • Report plant-level HR activities to the COO and escalate unresolved matters to the Corporate HR Manager.
  • Serve as the liaison between plant employees and corporate leadership for HR and admin matters.
