Job Description

Position Summary:

The Senior Steward plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in all food & beverage areas, including the kitchen and back-of-house. They lead the stewarding team in the efficient operation of dishwashing, equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and overall sanitation. The role includes supervisory duties and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily activities of the stewarding team to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dishwashing areas, and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas according to HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support the Executive Chef and F&B team by ensuring that clean equipment and utensils are always available.
  • Monitor stewarding inventory such as chemicals, cleaning supplies, and tools, and coordinate with purchasing for replenishment.
  • Train and mentor junior stewards in cleaning procedures, safety practices, and equipment handling.
  • Ensure waste is disposed of properly in accordance with hotel policy and local regulations.
  • Maintain records of cleaning schedules and inspections.
  • Assist with deep cleaning schedules and kitchen shutdowns when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of stewarding experience in a hotel or hospitality environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards (e.g., HACCP).
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Familiarity with commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning tools.
  • Good communication and time management skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Food Safety or Hygiene (optional but preferred).
  • Experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel or international hospitality brand.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month
