Senior Backend Engineer

As a Lead Engineer at FICO, you will have the opportunity to define, build, and shape the future of FICO's Fraud Solutions. Your main responsibility will be to design and develop backend modules for the feature management capability of FICO's decisioning platform. Collaborating with a team of software engineers, architects, and user experience personnel, you will work on implementing story requirements to meet acceptance criteria. Your role will involve continuously improving engineering practices for the software platform to enhance efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goals. You will also evaluate new design specifications, uphold quality standards, and address concerns related to stability, compatibility, scalability, and interoperability. Understanding the security aspects of the product and proactively addressing security vulnerabilities will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. In addition, you will be expected to stay updated with new technologies in related areas and demonstrate technical leadership through publications, presentations, white papers, and event participation. A quality-first mindset, adherence to code quality standards, and active participation in software engineering processes are essential for this role. To be successful in this position, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related disciplines, or relevant software development experience. You should possess over 10 years of proficiency in Java, including experience with Microservices, Spring framework, Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle, and Git. Proficiency in writing unit tests using frameworks like JUnit or Testng, experience in developing REST & gRPC based webservices, and a strong understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns are required. Furthermore, knowledge of implementing application security, familiarity with Docker & Kubernetes deployments, and experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra are essential. Experience with Agile or Scaled Agile software development, software design skills with a strong foundation in design models and database structures, and excellent communication abilities are also desired.
