As a Qualcomm Wireless Connectivity Modem Systems Engineer, you will research, design, develop, verify, validate, and commercialize Wireless connectivity modem as a product or component within a product. Works on the implementation of a multi-RAT (Radio Access Technology) wireless connectivity modem from industry specifications (such as Bluetooth, UWB, IEEE 802.15.4, etc.). Has experience in the wireless connectivity specifications and can efficiently implement the shared resources of a multi-RAT modem. Works closely with other functional groups to develop a cost effective, high quality and high capability modem that meets industry and customer requirements with high performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost (e.g., silicon area, calibration complexity, code size).Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or related field .
4+ years of experience in at least one or more of the following areasCommunication theory, digital signal processing, information theory, channel coding, and probability and random processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to program effectively in C/C++, Python and/or Matlab.
2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Sr. Staff level and above).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Leverages and applies advanced modem knowledge (e.g., RF, baseband signal processing, communication protocols) and design methodology for areas within modem hardware, systems, or firmware to execute modem assignments; participates in and shares own perspective within domain of modem subject matter expertise in design reviews and project meetings. .
Performs functional analysis to drive requirements and specifications and to define and align with standards for hardware and software.
Develops and analyzes system level design including requirements, interface definition, functional/performance definition, and implementation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
Collaborates with own team and other teams to complete project work, including implementing and testing features and verifying the accuracy of systems.
Develops new and innovative ideas (e.g. IDFs) for a product or feature area.
Drives triage of problems at the system level to determine root cause and presents results of testing and debugging to team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience. OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.Level of Responsibility:
Works under supervision.
Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.
Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions).
