Mep Design Engineer

Position Overview:

As the MEP Manager - Mechanical Engineering Design Expert, you will play a pivotal role in leading our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) department. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical engineering design projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and innovation. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in mechanical systems design, project management, and team leadership.

Role & responsibilities

Lead and manage the MEP department, providing strategic direction and guidance to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

• Oversee the conceptualization, design, and implementation of mechanical engineering solutions for various projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to develop comprehensive MEP design strategies that integrate seamlessly with overall project objectives.

• Conduct thorough feasibility studies, site assessments, and risk analyses to inform decision making and mitigate potential project challenges.

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the MEP department, leveraging emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends to optimize design processes and deliverables.

• Mentor and develop junior engineers within the MEP team, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and excellence.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers, serving as a trusted advisor and resource throughout the project lifecycle.

• Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, proactively identifying and addressing any deviations or obstacles that may arise.

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering design, with a focus on MEP systems.

• Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems design, with a strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MEP modeling tools.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and delegate tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, negotiate effectively, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

• PMP or PE certification is a plus.
