Your responsibilities will include managing and designing mechanical or electromechanical systems for actuation of controls in commercial vehicles, conceptualizing and designing new robotic systems or vehicles, and actuators for the same. Additionally, you will be involved in mechanically calibrating or assisting in the calibration of various sensors in a vehicle, prototyping and continuously improving existing actuators for brake, throttle, clutch, and steering systems, designing closed mounting systems for various sensors on a vehicle, and conducting dynamic load testing of mechanical systems, including sensor mounts and actuators. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong knowledge of at least one mechanical design software such as Solidworks, CATIA, or AutoCAD. You should also possess knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, be familiar with or have the ability to learn operating principles of various systems in commercial vehicles, have a mathematical background to perform basic mathematical computations or calculations of forces and torque requirements, and have experience in prototyping designs using 3D printing or the willingness to learn the same.
