Perform material selection for plastic components based on application, strength, durability, and environmental factors. Collaborate with product teams to define design requirements and ensure product functionality and aesthetics. Optimize designs for injection molding, thermoforming, blow molding, or other plastic manufacturing processes. Work with mold makers and tool designers to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective tooling. Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) reviews. Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and documentation. Support prototyping, testing, and validation of plastic components. Identify and implement design improvements based on test results and feedback. Ensure designs meet relevant standards and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Product Design, or related field. Experience: 2–5+ years of experience in plastic part design and development. Hands-on experience with CAD software and PLM systems. Familiarity with various plastic materials and molding processes. This role blends mechanical design, system integration, and product development in a fast-paced, mission-driven startup environment. Mechanical Design & Product Development Design and develop robust, functional, and aesthetically refined mechanical components and assemblies tailored for EV and robotic platforms. Lead design projects from concept to prototype, focusing on performance, durability, and manufacturability in defence-grade systems. Perform detailed 3D CAD modelling using tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and AutoCAD. Vehicle Packaging & System Integration Plan and optimize the layout of major components (e.g., battery packs, motors, suspension systems, sensors) to ensure compact packaging, structural integrity, and serviceability. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate all systems within confined spaces without compromising performance. Vehicle Dynamics & Structural Optimization Design suspension systems and vehicle dynamics for terrain-adaptable robotic mobility.
