Role & responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities: Regulatory Affairs: - Ensure timely renewal of plant level and other licenses permissions by keeping a master data to be updated daily. - Identifying and applying for new licenses / permissions for all plants and other locations - Ensure review of product labels to comply with FSSA, IPR, Legal Metrology. - Ensure Legal proceedings management under FSSA, Legal Metrology and any other statute as applicable - Advising on promotional activities to ensure they are in compliance with regulatory requirements - Ensure complete compliance of all the units Project Management: - Ensure to carry out due diligence of new project locations - Ensure to apply and obtain all licenses and permissions - To make timely representations to various Govt. agencies or departments for issues related to power, water, effluent discharge etc. - To find out about the subsidies available at various states and avail of the eligible subsidies related to power, VAT, stamp duty etc. - Undertake and timely implement any other project undertaken at management instance Property issues: - To carry our due diligence of new property for e.g. residential/ commercial/ industrial purpose. - To liaise with state industrial development corporations or private party for completing the land/property transaction and getting the same registered. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL SET REQUIRED: 1. Knowledge of all requisite Laws, Rules and Regulations related to the Food & Beverage industry; such as, the Food Safety Standards Act(s) or Legal Metrology etc. 2. Extremely strong communication and negotiation skills. 3. Effective initiative and leadership qualities to get matters resolved through thorough investigation and discussion with those concerned, and in consultation with the management.

This role will be a part of the Foods leadership team and the HUL Legal Leadership & Foods Global Legal leadership teams and will work closely with the Category business heads of Foods. As part of the Legal Leadership team for India, the role will also be responsible for working with the Executive DirectorLegal to craft the strategy for the function and in leading, managing and developing the team. The role works closely with Unilever Foods Business Group and the Group General Counsel to effectively strategise for the Foods business in India, implementing the global plans within the Indian legal framework, Key Accountabilities. Part of India Foods business Leadership team (FLT) Partner with Category Leaders in the development and execution of the category strategy, plans and legal implications of the same. As part of FLT, the Legal Head – Food India will act as point of contact for India Foods business teams for legal issues, end to end for the Foods business, including issues relating to R&D, Supply Chain, Sales (Customer Development) and post-sales, Identify and mitigate potential legal and reputational risks by providing high quality, expert legal advice and by improving & maintaining the governance framework in terms of customer compliance, sanctions framework, product & regulatory compliance, contracts compliance on the one hand and providing competitive advantage for the growth of the business on the other, Prepare, negotiate and review legal agreements governing commercial relationships with third parties with whom the Company has dealings. Role & responsibilities Labelling and Packaging Artwork & Label Review: Oversee and manage the detailed review and approval process for all artworks and labels through the designated approval portal. Work closely in partnership with Internal Stakeholders to ensure legal compliance across all labelling and packaging activities on the Products. Ensure that all claims made on labels and artworks are properly substantiated by gathering relevant evidence and documentation from appropriate stakeholders before approval.
