Description
As a Design Engineer at Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases, you will be responsible for implementing project designs and improvements while adhering to department procedures and working under project team plans. Your role will involve researching and evaluating products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, ensuring the fit, form, and function of existing or new products, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the production and packaging of final products meet customer specifications and ACD procedures. Your essential functional responsibilities will include designing, modeling, and testing prototypes, conducting research and creating design proposals, developing concepts and production criteria, selecting materials for production, creating hand drawings and specifications, generating parts lists, and ensuring value engineering practices are incorporated into designs. Additionally, you will participate in planning marketing initiatives, negotiate production processes, evaluate products and processes for cost efficiency and reliability, and work closely with the Engineering team and other departments to meet production schedules. In this role, you will use computer-aided design (CAD) to create concepts and layout pumps and systems. Your responsibilities will also involve following department processes and procedures, providing feedback, and suggesting ideas for improvement. You will have the authority to review and approve your own design work, prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), participate in design reviews, communicate technically with internal stakeholders, raise Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), select standard parts and materials, access and use engineering tools, conduct design calculations, support manufacturing and assembly teams, follow and enforce design standards, and propose cost/design optimizations. While this position does not involve direct supervisory responsibilities, you may be required to travel to clients" offices, production facilities, or industrial/construction job sites in addition to performing tasks in an office environment. The physical demands of the job may include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and using fingers and hands. You may also need to lift up to 25 lbs and work overtime as needed. To qualify for this role, you should have at least five years of design engineering experience, proficiency in Solid Works and GD&T, experience in analyzing engineering sketches and specifications, the ability to make equipment layouts and perform engineering calculations, and knowledge of MS Office Suite. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field is required, along with proficiency in SolidWorks and FEA. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted.
