Job Description

As a Database Administration Specialist at NTT DATA, your primary responsibility will be to manage the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability and consistent performance of client applications. This position is hands-on and requires a combination of solid technical skills along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Your general duties and tasks will involve managing SQL Server databases across various lifecycle environments, from development to production systems. You will configure and maintain database servers and processes, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security. Additionally, you will be involved in database performance tuning, planning and troubleshooting high-availability database environments, and providing 24x7 support for critical production systems. In this role, you will be required to independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution. You will also be responsible for refining and automating regular processes, tracking issues, and documenting changes to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, you will share your domain and technical expertise by providing mentorship and cross-training to peers and team members. To be successful in this position, you should have at least 6 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, preferably in an enterprise environment with multiple database servers. You should possess expertise in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), backups, restores, recovery models, incident and problem queue management, as well as knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server. Additionally, experience with Windows server, including Active Directory, is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a flexible, team-oriented approach. You should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and effectively manage multiple tasks and teams. A foundation in ITIL, Continual Service Improvement, and Total Quality Management is highly desirable. While not mandatory, experience with scripting, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, logical DBA activities, complex query tuning, and schema refinement would be advantageous. Any certifications such as MCTS, MCITP, and MVP are considered a plus. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field is preferred for this role.,
