At Epiq AI Labs, we re building an AI-driven platform for legal discovery and knowledge management. Our mission is to transform how law firms and legal service providers manage complex litigation, process documents, and uncover actionable insights. By empowering our partners with cutting-edge technology, our new AI-driven platform enables the discovery of hidden connections, accelerates decision-making, and ultimately drives better legal outcomes.

The Role

Backend Software Engineers on the team design and implement scalable, high-performance systems that drive our platforms AI and data-processing capabilities. As a key player in the product lifecycle, you ll be involved from concept to deployment, ensuring that every solution meets the unique challenges of legal professionals. Youll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend engineers, and legal experts, to build solutions that solve real-world problems in the legal space.

Your day-to-day may include collaborating with teammates to architect new services, optimizing existing systems for performance and scalability, or designing robust APIs to power seamless user experiences. Each challenge presents an opportunity to enhance the legal workflows of our clients.

Core Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power AI-driven legal solutions.

Establish and uphold high coding standards through best practices, code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Design and implement APIs that enable seamless interaction between frontend applications and backend systems, while integrating external services.

Optimize applications for performance, ensuring low-latency operations for data-intensive legal workflows.

Design efficient data structures and algorithms to process and analyze large-scale legal datasets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve user workflows and deliver cohesive, intuitive experiences across the platform.

Technologies We Use

Backend languages: Python, Java.

Database systems: Lucene, PostgreSQL, and Qdrant.

Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.

CI/CD and build tools: GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Gradle.

What We Require

Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems for live production environments.

Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly incorporate feedback and uphold high-quality standards. Bachelors degree in
