Software Engineer II - Backend Developer

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Bank Technology team, you will be an integral part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, designing, and delivering state-of-the-art software components in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your role involves executing software solutions, participating in the design and development process, and handling technical troubleshooting tasks for various components within the firm's technical products and systems. You will be responsible for: - Executing software solutions by employing innovative approaches to problem-solving and technical challenges. - Contributing to key solutions for business operations on platforms related to Trading and Risk Management, such as Athena, Quartz, or similar systems. - Developing secure and high-quality production code while ensuring synchronous operation with relevant systems. - Assisting in modernization efforts through the migration and development of applications on AWS. - Creating architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensuring that design constraints are adhered to during software development. - Analyzing and synthesizing large data sets to produce visualizations and reports that support the enhancement of software applications and systems. - Proactively identifying hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements in coding practices and system architecture. - Engaging in software engineering communities to explore new technologies and contribute to a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team. Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills: - Formal training or certification in system design concepts with at least 2 years of practical experience. - Proficiency in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. - Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle. - Exposure to agile methodologies like CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security. - Hands-on experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code using modern programming languages and database querying languages. - Familiarity with Trading and Risk Management platforms such as Athena, Quartz, etc. - Strong knowledge of Java, Object-Oriented Programming, Spring Boot framework, and related technologies. - Demonstrable coding ability in one or more languages. - Understanding of version control systems like Git. - Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes. - Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within various disciplines like cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mobile technologies. Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills: - Familiarity with modern front-end technologies. - Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud would be advantageous. - Knowledge of JavaScript, ReactJS, and other front-end technologies is a plus. - Understanding of Microservices architecture and RESTful API design. - Proficiency in database technologies like SQL, NoSQL, and ORM frameworks. - Exposure to cloud technologies.,
