Software Development Manager

As the Manager of Software Development at Accelya in Pune, you will lead and manage a backend development team, providing technical guidance, performance management, and career development support. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend solutions using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS. Additionally, you will architect and oversee microservices deployment using Kubernetes and Docker in production environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated backend and frontend experiences. Your role will involve managing and prioritizing backend development tasks based on business needs and client requirements. You will represent engineering in client discussions, providing updates on backend progress, timelines, and technical feasibility. Taking ownership of backend system operations, monitoring, and incident response in collaboration with DevOps teams will also be part of your responsibilities. Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, secure, and reliable deployments is crucial, along with advocating for and enforcing software engineering best practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD), clean code, and documentation. To qualify for this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Proven experience in leading backend development teams in fast-paced, agile environments is required, along with demonstrated success in implementing and maintaining Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices. Hands-on experience with microservices, RESTful API design, and distributed systems architecture is essential, as well as familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases. Preferred skills for this role include experience working in the airline industry or on airline ticketing platforms, a background in serverless computing and cloud-native design patterns (e.g., AWS Lambda), familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling, knowledge of backend system security, performance optimization, and scalability, as well as experience in managing budgets, vendor relationships, or external technical partners.
