Senior Application Packaging Engineer - Citrix & VDI

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Packaging Engineer with a strong background in Citrix, VDI environments, and application packaging using industry-standard tools. The ideal candidate will possess advanced scripting skills and hands-on experience in automating and deploying applications across virtualized desktop infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:
Package, test, and deploy applications for Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft VDI environments.

Use packaging tools such as Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield, Advanced Installer, App-V, MSIX, SCCM, and PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT).

Automate application packaging and deployment processes using PowerShell, VBScript, or Batch scripting.

Work closely with the Citrix team to optimize application performance and compatibility within Citrix and VDI platforms.

Perform silent installations and scripting for customized installations based on end-user requirements.

Ensure packaged applications adhere to enterprise standards, including security, performance, and compliance.

Manage application lifecycle: updates, patches, versioning, and retirement.

Troubleshoot deployment and packaging issues, working with application owners and support teams to resolve conflicts.

Maintain detailed documentation of packaging and deployment procedures.

Technical Skills & Expertise:
Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (7.x and above)

VMware Horizon View / Microsoft AVD (Azure Virtual Desktop)

Application packaging tools: AdminStudio, InstallShield, App-V, MSIX, ThinApp

Scripting: PowerShell (advanced), VBScript, Batch scripting

Experience with SCCM / MECM, Intune, and other deployment tools

Deep understanding of Windows OS internals, registries, and user profile management

Application compatibility testing using ACT / TestBase / Citrix AppDNA

Hands-on experience with App Layering, FSLogix, and User Environment Management

Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 8 years of experience in application packaging and deployment.

Strong knowledge of Citrix and VDI infrastructure from an application compatibility standpoint.

Certifications such as Citrix Certified Associate/Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Comfortable working in Agile/DevOps environments.
