Job Description

Designation:

Role Objective

To perform and document stage-wise inspections of fabrication jobs as per approved drawings, weld maps, and project-specific quality standards, ensuring parts are accepted or escalated at the right time, supporting smooth project flow and first-time-right execution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out dimensional and visual inspections for assigned fabrication jobs including fit-up, welding, grinding, and painting — in line with approved ITPs and drawings.

2. Verify that jobs are fully ready before inspection — confirm proper welding consumables, part marking, and drawing version before proceeding.

3. Tag accepted, hold, and rejected items appropriately, and update shift-wise inspection logs with traceability.

4. Escalate any deviation, unclear condition, or suspected non-conformance to the QC Lead without delay.

5. Coordinate with Section Coordinators and In-Charges to ensure that jobs are only offered when ready — avoid idle QC time or partial checks.

6. Track and re-inspect reworked items, ensuring proper closure of NCRs with documentation.

7. Maintain calibration and readiness of basic inspection tools (e.g., measuring tape, weld gauge, fillet gauge, DFT meter).

8. Assist during client or third-party inspections by presenting relevant records and highlighting inspected jobs.

9. Report recurring rework trends or frequent job readiness gaps to the QC Lead for process correction.

10. Adhere to traceability and tagging discipline for all inspected parts — support flow, not delay it.
