Principal Shipyard Planner - Naval Arch/Mech or Industrial Engineer

• Lead and support the layout planning and design of a new greenfield shipyard, dry docks and ship lift projects.
• Provide technical expertise for layout and capacity planning of shipyard infrastructure, dry docks, ship lift, transfer dock, slipways, workshops, utilities, and production workflows.
• Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, environmental consultants, and equipment vendors.

• Integrate green technologies, incorporation of robotics based latest state of art equipment for efficient operation of shipyard.

• This position directly reports to Managing Director and hence very clear, prompt and efficient communication is MUST. The candidate will closely interact with our experts in international offices.
• Lead and oversee the planning and design of maritime and associated structures from initial concepts through to detailed designs, including Planning, outfitting jetties, quay walls ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Lead the Feasibility studies and Detailed project report with a thorough understanding of actual ground conditions related to construction aspects, access to site etc.
• Production and proof checking of floating stability calculations for transfer docks, caissons, checking and reviewing of calculations produced by junior staff/sub consultants in compliance with Quality Standards.
• Producing sketch drawings and details for CAD drawing by junior staff checking and reviewing of these prior to issue.
• Well-rounded experience in planning and designing of shipyards, ship lift , dry docks, floating dry docks.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience in the planning and design of Shipyard, dry docks, marine infrastructure, coastal process, understanding operational efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability.
• Contribute to the planning and design of breakwater projects, integrating innovative solutions for wave attenuation and harbour basin protection.
• Preparation of specifications, Bills of Quantities and assistance with contract documents for construction projects.
• Technical direction of design activities with a focus on project delivery and quality of deliverables.
• Commercial and technical management of projects within the office, ensuring that projects show a profitable result.
• Carrying out inspections and surveys, preparation of reports.
• Lead and provide full detailed shipyard master plan for land and water side ensuring sustainable and resilient development in sensitive coastal areas.
• Review and oversee dredging initiatives, considering navigational requirements and environmental impact assessments.
• Possess a thorough understanding of Indian and international maritime standards, applying this knowledge to all aspects of project planning and execution.
• Utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM) effectively in the planning and design phases, ensuring accurate representation and coordination of maritime engineering projects.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with other engineering disciplines, environmental specialists, and project managers.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers within the maritime engineering team.
• Actively participate in client interactions, addressing project-specific challenges, providing regular updates, and ensuring client satisfaction.

  Role & responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to assess maritime conditions, address construction challenges, and ensure the quality assurance of maritime engineering solutions.
• Assist in planning manpower for Project deliverables.
• Interact closely with Business Development Team to contribute in enhancing company reputation within the maritime market and lead the technical discussions with client and assist the technical proposal preparation as required by the company management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10-15 years of professional experience in planning of Maritime infrastructure works with a focus on planning and design of shipyard, dry docks, ship lift and port projects.
• Well-versed and thorough knowledge of Indian and international maritime standards.
• Knowledge with Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Strong understanding of shipyard workflows, machinery, and infrastructure layout.
• Strong project management skills and ability to lead interdisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with FEED studies, EPC workflows, and maritime regulations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex projects.
