Your role:
As the Principal Network Engineer / Architect WAN you will be responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing the global WAN and Secure Service Edge (SSE) technologies that support Vantive s strategic IT infrastructure. You will support the Sr. Manager, IT WAN Technologies by providing the hands-on technical expertise necessary to translate strategic vision into tangible deployments.
You will take ownership of the architecture, design and implementation of SD-WAN , SASE, Zero Trust Network Access , and related SSE platforms , helping to deliver secure, scalable connectivity solutions to Vantive s global locations. This role is key to ensuring the successful execution of our SD-WAN migration, SSE modernization, and network infrastructure transformation initiatives.
What You ll Be Doing:
- Design, configure, and implement global WAN/SD-WAN solutions, specifically using Cisco, Fortinet and Versa SD-WAN technologies.
- Execute the SD-WAN migration plan and support Internet underlay circuit migrations.
- Engineer and implement Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Firewall as a Service (FWaaS), and related SSE technologies, with a strong focus on Versa, Zscaler ZIA / ZPA platforms.
- Architect, design and deliver hands-on deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of WAN/SASE infrastructure.
- Support the development and implementation of the next-generation SSE platform in alignment with the SASE framework.
- Partner with senior IT leadership and enterprise architecture to implement the product vision and roadmaps for WAN and SSE technologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT WAN/SASE solutions by identifying opportunities for optimization, automation, and standardization.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and reliability of the solutions including availability, capacity and latency.
- Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable infrastructure services.
- Ensure timely and effective incident response, problem management, and change implementation with a focus on DevOps principles.
- Stay current on industry trends and bring innovative ideas and technical leadership to the team.
- Support the architecture of campus, data center, Call Center/Voice/Collaboration and cloud networks, including LAN/WAN/SDN design, visibility, and performance tuning.
- Develop transitional and target-state architecture documentation to guide platform engineering.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex issues involving BGP, OSPF, VPNs, QoS, and application-aware routing.
- Assist with equipment selection, PoCs, vendor evaluations, and implementation plans.
- Document and maintain network topologies, data flows, and dependency mappings.
What You ll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in IT networking with a focus on WAN, SD-WAN, and security services.
- Proven hands-on experience with Cisco SD-WAN, Versa, Fortinet SD-WAN platforms.
- Strong expertise in deploying and managing Zscaler ZIA, ZPA, and Zero Trust Network Access solutions.
- Familiarity with CASB, SWG, FWaaS, and the broader SASE ecosystem.
- Experience with network design, architecture, and implementation for campus, data center, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Advanced understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VPNs, QoS, VLANs, and transport technologies (MPLS, DMVPN, internet).
- Experience with network diagnostic tools (Wireshark, NetFlow, syslog, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Aruba ClearPass, Cisco ISE, F5 Load Balancers, and SolarWinds is a plus.
- Experience with structured documentation and tools like Visio.
- Network certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Versa Certified Specialist, and Zscaler certifications (ZCCP-IA, ZCCP-PA) are highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Up to 20% travel expected.
