Job Description

As an OpenJDK developer working in the IBM System team, you will be primarily responsible for collaborating with the OpenJDK community to maintain and enhance the OpenJDK on IBM Z platforms.Responsible for primarily contributing to the Hotspot Java virtual machine but may also contribute to OpenJDK class libraries, tools, tests, and documentation.Collaborate with the Eclipse Adoptium community projects that develop and maintain OpenJDK build and test infrastructure (e.g. Temurin and AQAvit).Since projects involve multiple programming languages and frameworks, your skills in developing and debugging with C++ and Assembly will be especially valuable Required education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise 5+ years of Strong interest in and understanding of Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Compilers, Runtimes, low level debugging and tracing Effective communication and collaboration skills 3+ years of experience developing in os-level languages like C or C++ 1+ year experience in developing in Assembly and Java 1+ year experience in Open-source development and related tools such as git, and GitHub. Preferred technical and professional experience Experience in low-level programming involving interaction with C++ runtime, OS, threads, memory management, and assemblers.Experience debugging, tracing, and profiling code for resolving functional and performance issues.Experience in Z/s390x Assembly InstructionsExperience with OpenJDK or Hotspot developmentExperience working in the open software community projects as a contributor or committer
