A Legal Head in a real estate company provides strategic legal guidance, manages legal risks, and oversees all legal aspects of the company's operations . This role requires a deep understanding of real estate law, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a legal team and external counsel effectively. The Legal Head ensures the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, handles litigation, and advises on contracts and other legal documents. Key Responsibilities: Provide legal advice and support: Offer comprehensive legal guidance to senior management on real estate development, regulatory compliance, and commercial agreements. Manage legal risks: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with business decisions and transactions. Oversee litigation: Lead and manage the company's litigation portfolio, including real estate disputes, arbitration, and other legal cases. Draft and review legal documents: Ensure all contracts, agreements, and other legal documents are legally sound and aligned with company policies. Ensure regulatory compliance: Monitor and ensure the company's adherence to all applicable real estate laws, RERA regulations, and other statutory requirements. Manage legal team and external counsel: Lead and mentor the in-house legal team, and effectively coordinate with external law firms and legal counsel. Handle land acquisition and property documentation: Manage legal aspects of land acquisition, including due diligence, title reports, and property registrations. Liaise with authorities: Coordinate with government authorities, legal professionals, and industry bodies for approvals and other legal requirements. Develop and implement legal policies and procedures: Establish and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and risk management. Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments: Monitor changes in real estate laws and regulations and advise the company on necessary actions. Qualifications: LLB/LLM from a recognized institution. Extensive experience (typically 8-15+ years) in real estate legal matters. Strong understanding of real estate law, including RERA, land acquisition, and property documentation. Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills. Proven ability to manage a legal team and work with various stakeholders. Experience in handling large-scale real estate projects is often preferred. Familiarity with local land laws and property registration processes is often required.
