Java Developer

This is a hands-on role responsible for developing and supporting QTC, internal products and IT solutions based on Java and full stack for the SPX Cooling organization. The person in this role will report to the architect for engineering applications and will participate in continuous improvement activities, production support and projects, per business priorities, to design, develop and support solutions for engineering, commercial and other stakeholder groups.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop enhancements on QTC and Related applications.
• Production support QTC and related Applications.
• Prior experience on Developing or supporting CPQ is preferred.
• Monitor QTC and related application with monitoring tools.
• Configure design edits for product line combinations within software
• Perform Production Deployments over weekend, validate and communicate once it is Successful.
• Write and execute SQL statements, prepare reports and modify data on the fly based on requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Experience with web applications based on Java , Jee and Tomcat.
• Knowledge of SQL and working with relational databases, primarily MS SQL server and MySQL
• Experience with web services (REST), Okta/OAuth based authentication
• Experience with front end technologies HTML, Javascript/Typescript based UX, AJAX, Bootstrap is preferred
• Experience with source code mgmt. and release mgmt. software JIRA, BitBucket
• Experience with build and deployment tools like maven/ant and Jenkins.
• Strong interpersonal skills, positive “can do” attitude and a strong people motivator\influencer

Required Education / Experience:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience designing and developing applications for engineering
• 4+ years’ experience in programming and/or scripting (Java, J2ee.)
• 3+ years’ experience working with relational databases and web services
• Experience interacting/working with teams across multiple time zones
• Experience supporting production applications as well as requirements gathering and effort estimation for new applications and changes
• Experience with multiple software development practices (Waterfall, Agile, Kanban and other hybrid setups), continuous improvement and quality control.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps is a plus
• Knowledge of engineering, R&D and manufacturing processes and terminology is a plus
• Experience with SAP ECC6.0 or higher ERP is a plus
• Experience with lean, value stream mapping and project management is a plus
