EDI Consultant

Job Summary

As a Senior EDI Analyst , you will be responsible for managing and optimizing electronic data interchange processes across our manufacturing and supply chain operations. You will act as the primary liaison for EDI initiatives, ensuring smooth and efficient B2B communications with suppliers, distributors, logistics providers, and customers. Your expertise will drive the successful integration of EDI with our ERP systems and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of EDI solutions supporting procurement, order fulfillment, logistics, and invoicing processes.
• Configure and manage EDI transactions including but not limited to 810 (Invoice), 850 (Purchase Order), 856 (Advance Ship Notice), 997 (Functional Acknowledgement), and others.
• Onboard new EDI trading partners and maintain existing partner configurations, ensuring compliance with partner-specific specifications.
• Work closely with manufacturing, logistics, and finance teams to align EDI workflows with operational processes.
• Collaborate with IT and ERP teams (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) to ensure seamless data integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve EDI errors and data transmission issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate documentation for mappings, partner configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts and technical support staff.
• Monitor industry trends and recommend improvements to EDI infrastructure and practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
• 9+ years of hands-on EDI experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and communication protocols (FTP, AS2, SFTP, VAN).
• Proficiency with EDI tools/platforms such as IBM Sterling, Cleo Integration Cloud, Gentran, or similar.
• Experience with ERP integration (preferably Siteline, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hybrid EDI/API integration environments.
• Familiarity with supply chain concepts such as just-in-time (JIT), vendor-managed inventory (VMI), and third-party logistics (3PL) integrations.
• Previous leadership or mentoring experience within EDI or IT teams.
