The opportunity: Our Market Management System (MMS) engineering team develops software utilized by electricity market operators to effectively manage, optimize, and operate extensive transmission and distribution networks globally. How you'll make an impact: You will utilize business requirements, solution designs, and functional specifications to strategize testing and data creation activities necessary for ensuring high-quality deliveries to customer projects. Design and develop functional and non-functional use cases and test cases to validate that business objectives and functional requirements are met according to the test plan. Collaborate closely with engineering to specify the format, volume, and tools required for collecting and processing data essential for testing. Work with subject matter experts to acquire, prepare, process, validate, and finalize the data needed for testing. Provide data to support developer unit tests and leverage unit test results to enhance test cases, test data, and test steps for quality assurance testing. Implement reusable test automation, data, and function validation tools. Execute functional and non-functional tests including smoke test, integration test, factory acceptance test, performance tests, issue resolution, and regression tests. Track and rectify data and test steps as needed to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Furnish testing progress and status reports to the engineering team. Identify, track, and investigate issues detected during testing, collaborate with developers to replicate, rectify, and verify corrections, and provide testing verification progress reports. Analyze test results, propose improvements, and suggest corrective actions to maintain adherence to high-quality standards. Maintain, adapt, and enhance testing tools and artifacts, data, documentation, test environments, test automation tools, and test reports. Train and mentor others on software testing and proven testing methodologies to enhance software quality and mitigate quality risks. Ensure compliance with relevant external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines while embodying Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity by taking ownership of actions, caring for colleagues, and contributing to the business. Your Background: - MTech/ME Degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or PhD in Electrical. - 3 to 5 years of experience. - Participation in the quality assurance process at a large and geographically dispersed software development organization. - Proficiency in software development using C, Java, Fortran, Python, and other scripting languages. - Knowledge of SQL language, MS SQL, Oracle, Postgres, and other relational and non-relational databases. - Familiarity with data formats (Excel, CSV, XML, JSON) and data transformation and ETL tools. - Experience with JUnit, TestNG, DBUnit, FRUIT, Selenium, Cucumber, or similar testing frameworks. - Understanding of Linux, AIX, Windows, and other operating systems. - Critical thinking ability, capable of working independently and executing tasks with minimal supervision. - Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. - Experience with Power Systems Network Modeling, Network Topological Analysis, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimator, Security Constrained Unit Commitment, Economic Dispatch, Linear and Non-Linear Programming (Optimization), and Numerical Methods.
