Engineer for PEC PEx Global Engineering (based in Chennai, India)

We are looking for a Engineer (Machine Design) to join our dynamic team in Chennai, India. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a global engineering and services organization that supports the pulp and energy industry.
As a Machine Design Engineer, you ll contribute to capital and service projects focused on retrofit and upgrade solutions, while also supporting new equipment design and global project requirements from our headquarters in Finland and Sweden.
The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks;
- Perform mechanical detail design of lime kilns, burners, and related combustion equipment.
- Experience in the pulp and paper or cement industry.
- Develop 2D and 3D models, fabrication drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design reports, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Collaborate with process engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate is expected to hold the following.
- Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in lime kilns and burners.
- Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar).
- Strong knowledge of materials, heat transfer, and combustion principles.
- Familiarity with ASME codes, API standards, or equivalent mechanical design standards.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
- Willingness to travel to client sites >25% of time is required for this position.
