Job Description

Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Reports To: Plant Head Job Purpose: To ensure implementation and compliance of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in line with statutory requirements and company policies at the steel fabrication plant. The HSE Engineer will be responsible for identifying risks, conducting safety audits, training personnel, and promoting a culture of safety across all levels. Key Responsibilities: Implement and monitor HSE systems and policies to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular risk assessments and job safety analyses across the fabrication plant. Ensure compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations. Carry out safety inductions, toolbox talks, and regular HSE training for employees and contractors. Monitor and report on unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents, and ensure corrective actions are taken. Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventive measures. Coordinate fire drills, mock safety drills, and emergency response planning. Maintain and update safety documentation, permits, and inspection records. Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely submission of compliance reports. Promote continuous improvement in plant HSE performance through proactive initiatives. Key Requirements: Education: Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial) with a Diploma in Industrial Safety. Experience: 58 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in a steel fabrication. Certifications: NEBOSH/IOSH certification is an added advantage. Skills: Strong knowledge of national safety standards, OSHA, and Factories Act. Good communication, leadership, and team coordination skills. Proficiency in MS Office and report writing. Working Conditions: Plant-based role with regular field visits within fabrication areas. May involve working in shifts and responding to emergency situations.
