Database Administrator

The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of critical database systems to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance. You will work closely with application teams, system administrators, and project stakeholders to ensure that database systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals. Additionally, you will be managing data integrity, access controls, and compliance with relevant policies and standards. You should be skilled in working with relational databases such as PostGres, MariaDB, and nonrelational databases like MongoDB. Your expertise in database design, normalization, and optimization will be crucial for this role. It is essential to have knowledge of SQL and query optimization, familiarity with backup and recovery procedures, and an understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions. Experience with database security and access control is also required, along with a proven track record of managing and maintaining large-scale databases in both on-premises and cloud-based environments. Responsibilities include contributing to the design and implementation of scalable and secure database solutions that align with organizational needs, supporting the development of reliable and efficient database architectures, and enforcing standards across development and production environments. You will be managing and maintaining the operational health of production and non-production databases, ensuring optimal uptime and performance, and performing routine maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, archiving, and patching. Monitoring system logs, resolving issues related to slow queries, deadlocks, or storage bottlenecks, and escalating where needed are also part of your responsibilities. You will be responsible for ensuring database security through role-based access control, encryption, and secure configurations, monitoring for unauthorized access or unusual activity, and supporting compliance initiatives to adhere to relevant regulatory standards. Analyzing database workloads to identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimizing SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans, participating in capacity planning, and collaborating with developers to review and optimize database schemas and application queries are essential tasks related to performance tuning and optimization. Additionally, you will be coordinating the deployment of database updates, patches, and schema changes with minimal operational impact, supporting database migration and integration efforts, and ensuring database components interact smoothly with analytics tools and data pipelines. Implementing and managing monitoring tools to track database performance, generating routine health check reports, maintaining accurate documentation for database configurations, maintenance procedures, and incident resolutions, and collaborating with business and application teams to understand data requirements are also part of your responsibilities. Qualifications include a B.E./B. Tech in any specialization or MCA, with a preference for DBA certification or related certifications. You should have 7 or more years of experience in design, implementation, and management of database systems, especially in large and complex IT systems development and implementation projects. Fluency in English and Hindi (Speaking, reading & writing) is required, with fluency in Assamese being preferable.,
