Area Sales Manager

Job Objective:

To drive sales, distribution, and market share of namkeen products in the assigned geographical area. The ASM will manage a team of Sales Officers, oversee distributors, and ensure implementation of the company's sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Revenue Targets

• Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
• Drive secondary and tertiary sales.
• Monitor daily sales reports and take corrective actions.
  

Channel Management

• Appoint and manage distributors/dealers/stockists in the assigned area.
• Ensure optimal stock availability and proper inventory rotation.
• Maintain relationships with key retail accounts and channel partners.
  

Team Management

• Lead, train, and motivate a team of Sales Officers and Field Sales Executives.
• Monitor team performance and ensure target achievement.
• Conduct regular market visits and joint fieldwork.
  

Market Development

• Identify and tap into new markets and expansion opportunities.
• Track competitor activities, pricing, and promotions.
• Ensure proper product visibility and merchandising at retail outlets.
  

Promotions & Schemes

• Implement promotional schemes, product launches, and campaigns effectively.
• Ensure the proper execution of POS (point of sale) materials and branding.
  

MIS & Reporting

• Maintain sales and expense reports.
• Provide market feedback and consumer insights to management.
• Forecast demand and coordinate with the supply chain for timely deliveries.

Key Skills Required:

• Strong knowledge of FMCG sales (preferably snacks/namkeen category).
• Distributor handling and retail sales expertise.
• Leadership and team management abilities.
• Negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in local language and territory knowledge.

Sales Officers

Experience:

• 4 to 8 years in FMCG sales; at least 2 years in a supervisory or ASM role.
• Experience in the snacks/namkeen category is highly desirable.
