Application Development Senior Advisor

Position Overview

The job profile for this position is Application Development Senior Advisor, which is a Band 4 Contributor Career Track Role. The senior engineer will be working within our Mainframe Home Delivery Technology organization. This role supports the team through the full software lifecycle of design, development, testing, and support for technical delivery. It requires working with both onsite and offshore team members to understand and deliver new functionality and improve/maintain existing processes.

Responsibilities

• Mainframe development and processing using COBOL, DB2, and CICS. Experience with mainframe technologies IBM z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF.
• Work on new development, as well as maintenance of current Pharmacy Batch applications, including, but not limited to, ORT, PPT, Archival, Autocancel, and Batch Cancel.
• Monitor code changes when they move to production.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Pharmacy Batch applications.
• Perform issue resolution, root cause analysis, and provide permanent fixes in a timely manner.
• Review processes for performance efficiencies.
• Conduct and participate in team code reviews.
• Prepare requirements documents for more junior developers.
• Participate in team standup meetings where you will give and receive updates on the current backlog and challenges.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• 13+ years of experience with hands-on experience in COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and REXX.
• Strong understanding of SQL, with the ability to write complex queries.
• Knowledge of Endevor and JIRA.
• Knowledge of agile Software Development Life Cycle methodology.
• Prior industry experience (Pharmacy, Healthcare, etc. ) preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and provide effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting with technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to work with business owners and create requirements documents for more junior developers.

Required Experience & Education:

• 13+ years of experience.
• College degree required.
