About the Role:

US Mortgage Underwriter

Key Responsibilities:

Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, income documentation, and property appraisals.
Perform risk assessments and make sound underwriting decisions on conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
Ensure loans meet all investor and regulatory guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.).
Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly to processors and loan officers.
Maintain high levels of accuracy and productivity while meeting service level agreements (SLAs).
Stay updated on industry trends, underwriting guidelines, and compliance regulations.

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in US mortgage underwriting (end-to-end).
DE/SAR/LAPP certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of AUS systems (DU, LP).
Familiarity with Encompass or similar LOS platforms.
Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
