Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy General Manager (DGM) Design to lead and manage the design and development of valves and related components. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in mechanical or metallurgical engineering with hands-on experience in various types of industrial valves. This role involves driving product design, tooling strategies, process improvements, and quality documentation in alignment with ISO standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of valves such as gate valves, butterfly valves, swing check valves, and air valves. Develop and approve valve prototypes/samples in coordination with cross-functional teams. Oversee tool design and implement optimized tool manufacturing methods . Maintain and control technical drawings , ensuring alignment with project and customer requirements. Drive compliance and maintenance of ISO documentation , standards, and audits. Provide technical support to production, quality, and sales teams when needed. Coordinate with vendors and customers for design validations and approvals. Mentor and guide junior design engineers to improve team capability. Required Qualifications: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering. Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant industry experience, with significant exposure to valve design and development. Preferred Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in gate valves, butterfly valves, swing check valves, and air valves. Key Skills: Strong understanding of valve design standards and manufacturing processes Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo) Knowledge of tooling techniques , materials, and DFMEA Familiarity with ISO standards and documentation control Excellent problem-solving and leadership abilities Effective communication and project management skills

Role & responsibilities Design and develop valves as per customer and application requirements. Manage valve sample development, testing, and approval. Design jigs, fixtures, and tools; coordinate with toolmakers and production teams. Prepare and maintain ISO documentation (FMEA, control plans, work instructions). Create and control engineering drawings using CAD software. Ensure document version control and compliance with ISO standards

Design new products, modify existing designs, develop calculation tools, test procedures, solve problems, run/verify calculations, perform project specification reviews, perform design reviews, verify standards and manuals, and conduct meetings. • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts. • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve products and develops recommendations accordingly. • Upgrading the design standards, design rules and design calculations based on lessons learnt and feedback. • Design and manufacturing review with sales and operations. • Prepare design (hand) calculations for the design development/ evaluation. • Manufacturing and field service support during assembly / commissioning. • Make innovative changes in the existing product for improvements and easy manufacture • Provide error free and timely designs and engineering outputs. • Prepare the design documents and operation and maintenance manuals for the new product. • Attend meetings and conferences to develop knowledge and skills. • Discuss with vendors and understand their process/technology and implement in the product. • Work with all IMI locations worldwide to understand the identified product, and its design and engineering requirements. • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner. • Customer and site visits for technical discussion and site studies.
