As a Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat OpenShift Engineering team in Bangalore, India, you will be a valuable member of an agile team dedicated to enhancing the engineering of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and its core components within Kubernetes. Your role will involve collaborating with various engineering teams, product management, and key stakeholders to fulfill customer requirements and adapt to the evolving needs of Red Hat OpenShift's growing customer base. Your responsibilities will include developing architectural and design principles to enhance product performance, capacity, and scalability. You will contribute to feature development, bug fixes, and peer code reviews within an agile team structure. Additionally, you will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Support teams to prioritize customer-facing features throughout the product lifecycle. In this role, you will play a key part in engaging with the open source Kubernetes community, leading the implementation of crucial improvements in the software product. Your expertise will be crucial in defining the high-level structure of software systems, providing architectural viewpoints on customer solutions, and ensuring product quality through continuous integration, delivery, and security threat responses. To excel in this position, you should possess an engineering degree or higher in computer science or a related field, along with 8+ years of coding experience in languages like Go, Java, or Python. Strong architectural mindset, experience with containers and Kubernetes, and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required to effectively communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders and technical staff. Experience with AI frameworks, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, open source development models, test-based development methodologies, and observability tools will be advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with enterprise application development and running applications on OpenShift will be beneficial for this role.
