Monitors the competition concerning the methods andregulations of the LPSQ operations, in order to retrieve the requiredinformation for the suggestion of improvements that will enhance theoperational effectiveness and increase the competitiveness and corporate imageof the Company. Enforces the accurate application of all changes andimprovements in the assigned vessels concerning the LPSQ processes andprocedures, so as to enhance their compliance and alignment with standardsregulations. Monitors and reviews the accurate implementation of theCompanys established environmental policies on the assigned vessels andproposes improvements that will enhance their effectiveness. Identifies and analyses risks associated with thecompanys LPSQ processes, in order to enable management to act proactively inreducing unfavourable results, thus contributing to the effective and efficientoperation of the Company and the enhancement of the seafarers and environmentprotection. Follows-up the activities concerning LPSQ issues ofassigned personnel and other employees, monitors the operational performance ofassigned vessels and provides assistance and advice to the Masters asnecessary, in order to improve the safe and environmental friendly activitiesof vessels. Supports the development of on-board investigation planand upon approval performs ship visits to the assigned vessels regarding LPSQissues and standards, in order to identify the compliance of the vesselsoperations with the LPSQ standards and processes. Investigates possible causes of accidents/incident, anddevelops relevant reports, providing recommendations for improvements inprocedures or working behaviours. Upon approval, follows-up and monitor theaccurate implementation of corrective actions. Implements the International Safety Management (ISM) Codeand other shipboard audits to all vessels assigned, so as to achieve andmaintain accreditation in accordance with legislative requirements. Ensures that the Compliance module of the companys software system, PAL, is updated with Non-Compliance/Observations (NC/Obs) identified during ship visits. Develops all necessary reports and documentationconcerning LPSQ issues and results and upon approval, submits them to shipowners, BSM clients and management, thus contributing to the bettercollaboration, enhancement of clients commitment and promotion of Companysprofile. Coordinates and interacts with external maritimeauthorities, auditors and/or any other supervisory bodies, providing all therequired information, in order to support the effective and objective executionof external audits. Communicates with Governmental, Maritime audit bodies andMaritime Authorities and industry bodies, in order to develop prosperousrelationships which will support the achievement of companys goals. In coordination with Fleet Managers and Superintendents,implements the Performance Appraisals for all Senior Officers of the assignedvessels, in order to contribute appropriately to their career development.Identifies training needs and provides on board training to ship staff duringship visits. Coordinates, coaches and motivates his subordinates,through the appropriate training, development, management of performance andsalary progression to ensure that staff have the appropriate knowledge, skillsand support that will help them perform effectively and contribute to theachievement of the departments desired short and long-term objectives. Participates in the development, submission and uponapproval implementation of the departments budget, supports its accurateexecution, identifies cost saving opportunities and proposes corrective actionsin case of deviations, in order to ensure compliance with set targets. Active involvement in the continual improvement process of the Company Management System to maintain compliance with customer requirements, expectations as well as international / national regulations. Requirements Education and Qualifications: B.Sc. in Marine or Naval Engineering, or Chief Engineers Certificate Work Experience: At least 3 years sailing experience as Chief Engineer, or 4-6 years and above experience as LPSQ manager or superintendent within a ship management/owning company Job-Specific Skills : Knowledge of Quality Standards, environmental and safety standards Knowledge of Legislation concerning Quality and Safety
