Server and Security Administrator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Server and Security Administrator to manage, secure, and maintain our physical and virtual server infrastructure. The role requires deep technical expertise in server environments, network security, system hardening, and threat mitigation. You will be responsible for ensuring system uptime, implementing security best practices, and supporting infrastructure scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, manage, and maintain Linux/Windows-based servers (shared, VPS, or dedicated).
• Perform regular updates, patches, and server hardening for security and performance.
• Migrate and maintain WordPress websites across different hosting providers.
• Manage DNS settings, domains, and email hosting (cPanel, Plesk, or external providers like Google Workspace, Zoho Mail).
• Monitor server performance, uptime, and perform routine backups and restores.
• Set up and manage firewalls, malware protection, SSL certificates, and secure remote access (VPN, SSH).
• Respond to and investigate security alerts or breaches; apply preventive measures.
• Automate common server tasks using scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
• Collaborate with development and support teams for deployment and system issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of Linux server environments (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian) and/or Windows Server.
• Hands-on experience with shared hosting (cPanel, Plesk), VPS and cloud-based environments.
• Proficiency in DNS management and email configuration (MX records, SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
• Solid understanding of WordPress migrations, site performance tuning, and security best practices.
• Knowledge of server monitoring tools (e.g., UptimeRobot, Netdata, Nagios, or similar).
• Experience managing backups and disaster recovery solutions.
• Familiarity with SSL certificate management and web server configuration (Apache, Nginx).
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals including firewalls, brute-force protection, etc.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
