Senior Modeling Artist

As a Senior Modeling Artist at The Cirqus, you will play a crucial role in creating high-quality CG characters and environments for various projects including feature films, VFX, TV series, ride films, and games. Your work will contribute towards the overall magic that our talented and diverse team strives to achieve with passion and love for the art. Your responsibilities will include showcasing a broad skill set encompassing characters, props, and environments in styles ranging from realistic to cartoony. Technical proficiency is essential for building models for deformations such as blendshapes, deformers, and muscle/skin simulators. You should be adept at interpreting models from both 3D scans and 2D artwork, and able to work on modeling with minimum supervision. Collaboration is key at The Cirqus, as you will attend daily reviews to receive feedback from supervisors and work closely with the production team to determine the look for an object. Maintaining a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work is paramount. Additionally, you will be expected to mentor and assist entry-level modellers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. To excel in this role, you should possess a degree in fine arts or equivalent, with a deep understanding of anatomy, design, and animation, or have at least 3 years of industry experience specializing in Modeling. Proven experience in creating characters, props, and environments in a production environment, particularly in a realistic style, is highly desirable. A traditional arts background with a focus on photorealistic character work and environments will be advantageous. Communication is key, as you will be part of a collaborative team environment. Having extensive knowledge of Maya/ZBrush, excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure are crucial for success in this role. You should also be willing to adapt to a dynamic pipeline and contribute to its improvement. To stand out, demonstrate your traditional artistic skills, including illustrations, through a demo reel. Sculptural abilities are a plus. Brownie points will be awarded for knowledge of human and animal anatomy, life drawing skills, lookdev, texturing skills, and the proactive escalation of technical issues to leads. Additionally, assisting with project clean-up and archiving on an ongoing basis will be appreciated.
