Senior Engineer - Packaging Design

Role & responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom packing solutions for various auto components, considering product dimensions, handling requirements, and logistics constraints.
• Create detailed packing drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and other design tools.
• Define packing specifications based on the nature, size, and sensitivity of components being packed.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, logistics, and procurement, to ensure packaging meets operational and safety requirements.
• Perform should-cost analysis for packaging materials to support cost optimization and supplier negotiations.
• Maintain and update packaging data in the SAP MM module, ensuring alignment with procurement and material management processes.
• Evaluate and select packaging materials based on product compatibility, durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure all packaging designs are compliant with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 - 7 years of experience in packing design within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D packaging design and drawing.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, costing, and reporting.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM module for material and packaging data management.
• Understanding of should-costing principles and cost breakdown for packaging components.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for packaging and logistics.
• Knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions and recyclable materials.
• Experience with returnable packaging systems (e.g., bins, pallets, dunnage).
• Exposure to lean manufacturing and supply chain principles.
