Senior BI Developer

You will play a crucial role as a Lead Analytics Consultant in the Data and Analytics Services team, where you will be responsible for developing innovative visual analytics solutions to facilitate faster and better decision-making processes for Sun Life. Your expertise in data visualization will be instrumental in accelerating the development of strategic analytics projects that support various business stakeholders. Your main accountabilities will include working closely with data engineers, business data analysts, and business operations teams throughout the engagement life cycle. You will be responsible for providing plans and estimates for reporting initiatives, setting up reporting standards guidelines, documenting best practices for dashboard development, and guiding developers to ensure quality outcomes. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining standards for analysis and reporting, facilitating group meetings for solution design, and turning complex data into easy-to-understand visual insights aligned with business objectives. To excel in this role, you should possess a minimum graduate degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent, along with 10+ years of total experience. Your expertise in visual analytics and design principles, as well as 8+ years of experience in tools like Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or QuickSight, will be essential. Proficiency in SQL programming, experience in agile development environments, and the ability to create complex calculations and implement advanced dashboard practices are also key qualifications. Your competencies should include expertise in dashboard designing and development, setting up best practices for BI reporting teams, experience with PostgreSQL, and end-to-end testing of dashboards. Strong visual design expertise, the ability to draw meaningful business insights from data, excellent communication skills, and a strong problem-solving aptitude are also crucial for success in this role. Additionally, possessing experience in BI CoE or platform teams, visualization tool certifications, exposure to AWS data sources and services, and familiarity with Agile or design-driven development methodologies will be considered as additional assets for this position.
