Scrum Master

Job Summary

The Scrum Master is a Servant Leader within a team and works closely with the Product Owner. The

Scrum Master is accountable for creating the environment for the success of the Scrum team, acting

as both a servant leader and coach for the team. The main responsibilities of the Scrum Master are;

removing blockers, ensuring progress can be made by team members by removing issues outside

of their control, dealing with any organizational impediments, and protecting the team from

unnecessary distraction. The Scrum Master is responsible for the day-to-day agile management

activities such as running the Scrum (or Kanban) process. The Scrum Master also has responsibility

for upskilling the team in agile ways of working that enable the team to self-organize, manage, and

deliver value using agile methodology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accountable for maximizing team's ability to deliver Sprint goals and contribute to the teams

OKRs

• Responsible for ensuring team-level ceremonies like Daily Huddles, Sprint Planning, Sprint

Review etc. are conducted focusing on value return.

• Accountable for driving continuous improvements for the team resulting in increased

efficiency or enabling greater ROI

• Accountable to both the team as a whole and each individual team member, performing as a

servant leader

• Accountable for identifying, tracking, removing and escalating impediments and blockers at

team level to maintain both pace and flow of value

• Accountable for managing and resolving intra-team dependencies by working with other

Scrum Masters within the platform and external teams

• Responsible for the effective and consistent operational performance for the scrum process
• Responsible for both timely and effective tracking and reporting on team progress against

goals

• Responsible for managing team capacity, utilisation, and velocity. Actively engages with

other Scrum Masters within the platform to discuss resourcing and utilisation strategies

• Responsible for providing Platform Owner and Platform Lead with relevant input for each

team member to support each team members development and performance needs

Technical Skills Required:

• SAFe® 5 Agilist certification or equivalent
• Agile Management Foundation
• Scrum Master certification (A-CSM/CSM Certified Scrum Master, PSM – Professional Scrum

Master)

• Certified Agile Leadership (e.g. CAL-E, CAL-T)
• Certified Team Coach

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Scrum Master experience for 10 years operating in areas applying scrum mastery and

agile coaching techniques, lean agile principles and practices resulting in effective ROI

• High levels of competence in in the use of planning and documentation tools such as: Jira

and Confluence etc.

• Knowledge and experience of using Kanban Boards including the production of effective and

timely team performance monitoring reporting

• Project management fundamentals with the ability to apply principles, tools and techniques

to develop/plan, manage or execute projects to ensure successful completion

• Experience of working with 3rd party software and professional services delivery vendors
• Knowledge and experience operating with data deliveries and database and reporting tools

e.g. SQL Server, cubing technologies, Power BI, Qlikview SQL Server

• Knowledge of hyperautomation and robotics and lo-code platforms
• Knowledge of team delivery on premise, IaaS and PaaS
• Knowledge and experience operating with embedded on premise and multi-cloud SDLC

using technologies such as Team City or GitHub for integration, Github Packages for package

management, Container Kubernetes orchestration in Amazon, Azure and or Google cloud

underpinned by Lean Agile practices

• Knowledge of deployment using Octopus or Github deploy
• Experience operating within heavily regulated environments including external regulated

consumer products and service offerings
