QA Manager

Position Overview:

SMS-Magic is seeking a dynamic and technically proficient QA Manager to lead the Quality Assurance function with a focus on test automation, DevSecOps integration, performance engineering, and security testing. The successful candidate will drive the quality strategy across the SDLC, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing software releases in a fast-paced SaaS environment. Key Responsibilities:

1. DevSecOps & Security Testing

• Integrate security testing at all stages of the CI/CD pipeline.
• Implement and manage security tools such as Burp Suite, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Semgrep, OWASP Dependency-Check, and Trivy.
• Ensure identification, prioritization, and remediation of vulnerabilities aligned with the OWASP Top 10.
• Drive security test coverage in line with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR compliance standards.

2. CI/CD and Version Control Integration

• Embed quality gates and automated testing within continuous integration pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, and TeamCity.
• Leverage version control systems including Git, GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket for streamlined collaboration and test management.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to ensure robust release processes and infrastructure readiness.

3. Test Automation Leadership

• Drive end-to-end test automation strategy across UI, API, and regression test suites using tools like Selenium, Cypress, and frameworks built on Java and JUnit.
• Promote shift-left testing practices by embedding automated quality checks into the development lifecycle.
• Establish and maintain scalable and reusable test automation frameworks.

4. Performance Engineering & Observability

• Design and implement performance testing strategies including load, stress, soak, and scalability testing.
• Utilize observability tools such as Datadog, ELK Stack, and Splunk for performance monitoring and root cause analysis.
• Ensure the resilience, reliability, and responsiveness of applications under varying workloads.

5. Cloud, Infrastructure & Containerization

• Ensure comprehensive QA coverage for applications deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with exposure to Azure or GCP as a plus.
• Manage and test within containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, in collaboration with infrastructure and DevOps teams. 6. Team Management & Strategic Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing QA team consisting of manual testers, automation engineers, and DevSecOps specialists.
• Develop resource plans, oversee hiring efforts, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Define and monitor quality metrics, release readiness indicators, and continuous improvement KPIs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Support to ensure testable and high-quality deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the software industry.
• At least 2 years in a QA leadership or managerial role.
• 5+ years of experience in test automation.
• 3+ years of experience in DevSecOps, CI/CD integration, and security testing.
• Strong hands-on expertise in test automation tools (Selenium, Cypress), programming (Java, JUnit), and API testing.
• Proven experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, etc.).
• Demonstrated exposure to security tools and practices, performance testing, and cloud-native applications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or AWS/Azure/GCP foundational certifications.
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or Shell for automation tooling.
• Familiarity with application observability and monitoring best practices.
