SMEC India Pvt Ltd is looking for Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey A geotechnical engineer specializes in the analysis, design, and construction of structures and infrastructure projects involving soil, rock, and other geologic materials They assess the behavior of the ground and provide recommendations to ensure the stability and safety of construction projects Here are some key responsibilities and tasks of a geotechnical engineer:Site Investigation: Geotechnical engineers conduct site investigations to understand the subsurface conditions and geologic characteristics of a site This involves collecting soil and rock samples, performing geotechnical tests, and analyzing the data to determine the site's properties and behavior Geotechnical Analysis: They analyze the geotechnical data to assess the stability and load-bearing capacity of the ground This includes evaluating soil properties, determining slope stability, assessing foundation requirements, and analyzing the potential for settlement or soil liquefaction Design Recommendations: Geotechnical engineers provide design recommendations based on their analysis to ensure the safe and reliable construction of structures This may involve recommending suitable foundation types, slope stabilization measures, ground improvement techniques, or retaining wall designs Geotechnical Instrumentation: They install and monitor geotechnical instrumentation to measure and analyze ground movements, soil pressures, and other parameters during and after construction This data helps in assessing the performance of structures and determining any necessary remedial measures Construction Monitoring: Geotechnical engineers oversee construction projects to ensure that geotechnical recommendations are properly implemented They monitor excavation, foundation construction, and other geotechnical aspects, providing guidance and addressing any geotechnical issues that arise

Domain: Slope Stabilization / Rockfall Protection Systems Responsibilities: Design geotechnical solutions using tools like AutoCAD, GEO5, Plaxis, or equivalent. Prepare detailed engineering drawings and BOQs. Support project planning and costing teams with design inputs. Requirements: B.Tech/M.Tech in Geotechnical/Structural Engineering. 5+ years of relevant design experience in slope protection and mitigation systems. Strong command of design software and analytical tools. Ability to work cross-functionally with site and project teams.

Role accountabilities: Promote and role model Arcadis Health and Safety Principles during the planning and delivery of work Perform role in accordance with the Arcadis behavioural framework Work alongside team leadership Promote the culture of the business Manage and take accountability for the performance and behaviours of more junior staff Work collaboratively with related design disciplines within an agreed engineering management environment to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution Maintain strong working relationship with senior staff in Arcadis GECs and regional offices and understand the wider company perspective Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal credibility in the company Oversee an agreed scope of work and the operational workload of a team ensuring work is allocated appropriately and resources are fully utilized Manage the performance of team members identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues Develop, present and gain agreement for design options and opportunities to maximize the profitability of design components and drive the implementation of these Provide technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development Ensure effective financial and management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting of Arcadis GEC tasks as appropriate Take accountability for the quality of work completed by the team Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution Undertake verification checking of elements of work with higher complexity Manage the production and quality of designs and associated documentation and reports to ensure that they meet or exceed expectations as well as Arcadis requirements, and that they comply with national standards and codes of practice Manage quality assurance and feedback from Arcadis regional offices ensuring effective communication of any change/modifications Develop effective working relationships with the Project Director or Managers in Arcadis regional offices to ensure effective communication of progress and changes, as well as the resolution of issues Prepare a development plan with your line manager during the Professional Development Review process and take ownership of achieving the goals identified within this plan Qualifications & Experience : Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering Possess 5-10 years of relevant professional experience FLAC 2D and 3D skills must along with other Geotechnical softwares like Plaxis 2D/3D, Geostudio, Wallap, REPUTE etc. Able to lead and provide direction and technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery and in their professional development. Capable of exercising sound holistic independent judgement and take responsibility and accountability for their own performance and that of junior team members.
