Dy. Manager/Manager Extension/ Plantations (agroforestry) Location : Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Preference : The candidate must be of Punjabi descent and proficient in the Punjabi language. Qualification B.Sc., Agri/ Forestry or M.Sc., Agri/ Forestry with specialization of preferably Extension/ Agronomy/ Horticulture. or M.Sc., Botany Relevant experience : 8+ years of experience in plantation management, preferably in eucalyptus or similar tree crops. Experience in agricultural extension services is highly desirable. Key Skill: - Strong knowledge of eucalyptus plantation management, including silviculture, pest and disease management, and sustainable land use practices. - Familiarity with agroforestry systems and extension methodologies. - Proven ability to work with farmers, rural communities, and multi-disciplinary teams. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify technical information for diverse audiences. - Proficiency in MS office and GIS tools. - Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Special Skills required: - Good communication skill, outgoing personality, capabilities to influence clients - Socially adept and excellent Team Skills - Able to provide quality leadership to a large team of field operations. Role & Responsibility: - Develop and implement extension programs to educate and assist local farmers in eucalyptus cultivation, management practices, and market opportunities. - Conduct field visits to assess and provide technical guidance to farmers, addressing issues related to plantation growth, pest control, irrigation, and overall field management. - Organize farmers training sessions, village level meetings and demonstration plots to promote best practices in eucalyptus farming. - Develop informational resources and disseminate knowledge on eucalyptus cultivation techniques, plantation management, and sustainability practices. - Establish strong relationships with local farmers and community stakeholders to foster trust, collaboration, and mutual benefits. - Collaborate with research institutions, universities, and agricultural experts to stay updated on new techniques, trends, and innovations in eucalyptus farming. - Collect field data and assess the performance of different eucalyptus clones under varying conditions to ensure optimal yield and disease resistance. - Regularly monitor the performance of the plantation and extension programs, providing progress reports to senior management. - Maintain records of plantation activities, crop yields, inputs, and extension outcomes. - Build and maintain relationships with local farmers, community organizations, government agencies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders. - Manage and supervise a team of field extension officers. - Develop the annual operating plan and control costs.
