As an I & C Design Engineer based in Chennai, your primary responsibility will be field instrument design. You will be expected to have experience in preparing and reviewing various design deliverables including Design Basis, Instrument Index and I/O List, Instrument Datasheets, Instrument & Control system Specifications, Panel component selection & layout, Installation drawings and Hookups, Instrument Location Layouts, Cable Tray layouts, Control room layouts, Cable and Junction Box Schedule, Wiring and Interconnection drawings, Loop Wiring Diagram, MTO, Tender, and more. In addition to the above, you will be involved in Inter-Disciplinary Activities such as P&ID review, 3-D Model review, IDR/IDC. It is crucial that you have hands-on experience in performing design calculations like Instrument Sizing, Control Valve Sizing (InstruCalc, CONVAL), Flow meter sizing, Air and power consumption calculations, and Thermowell Wake freq. calculations. As a key member responsible for data collection and analysis, you will play a crucial role in various aspects of process safety. Your familiarity with PSM and its elements, PSSR, Management of Change, HAZOP study, and HIRA will be essential in performing tasks such as heat load calculation, material balance, effluent balance, DC and RC study, and advising on process safety. Your expertise will be utilized in reviewing and creating P&ID for the process, conducting new scale-up calculations for batches, and applying lab scale and production safe scale-up knowledge. You will also be required to perform thermal risk assessments and calculate orifice, pipeline, and vent sizes. Proficiency in AUTO CAD is a must, as hands-on experience in this tool will be necessary for various tasks. To qualify for this role, you should hold a B.E/B.Tech or Diploma in Chemical, B.Sc/M.Sc Chemistry with 1 to 5 years of experience in process safety. A good understanding of safety regulations and procedures is essential for ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe work environment.
