Role & responsibilities Work closely with clients to create designs, conducting design calculations and selecting the right equipment and systems for installation. Carry out detailed engineering design for piped water supply and both above and below ground drainage, including the preparation of layouts, schematics, and details. Perform engineering design for public health and fire protection services, which involves preparing layouts, schematics, schedules, specifications, and details. Draft technical schedules and specifications. Organize and manage BIM documentation for design work. Act as a representative for the discipline during client meetings. Ensure that service and project work is completed within the agreed deadlines and budget. Make sure that appropriate service and design decisions are made. Prepare briefing documentation for water, drainage, and fire protection to facilitate outsourcing the design to approved delivery suppliers. Review design information from a delivery perspective to ensure it meets the requirements outlined in the briefing documentation. Has the ability to critically assess building services documentation (drawings, calculations, and specifications) at all design stages, from concept to construction documentation, and provide valuable design input and guidance. Demonstrate proficiency in designing sustainable plumbing and fire protection systems, including a solid understanding of hydraulics, piping systems, pumps, and equipment. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure project coordination and timely delivery. Supervise junior engineering staff and provide training as needed to ensure that each project meets the required standards. Preferred candidate profile 4-8 years' experience in building services design engineering in LOCAL PROJECTS Bachelors degree or Masters degree in relevant subject. Experience in public health and fire protection designing is a must Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently. Working knowledge and understanding of Indian standards. Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects. Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros). Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers. Key Responsibilities- • Lead and support your team to ensure Health & Safety is embedded in all work practices, aligning with Arup policies. • Engage with wider Arup teams to improve communication and design processes and manage recruitment within the mechanical discipline. Conduct inductions and performance appraisals to support individual and business development, including succession planning and career development. • Develop and deliver training sessions, contribute to monthly leadership meetings, and drive the implementation of the Practice and Region strategy. • Practice and Region strategy. Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information, and encourage feedback. Ensure AMS and IPP compliance across your team and projects. • Contribute to business development through external market activities and functions. Develop client relationships, co-sell Arup services, and act as Bid Manager on selected prospects. Provide technical leadership for prequalification documents, RFPs, and client inquiries. Required Qualifications- The candidate should hold a first or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or other recognized qualification within the construction industry and be professionally qualified (chartered) and/or aspiring to register. • Minimum 18 years of experience with 8+ of relevant experience in working on projects in the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and KSA, either in-country or from a remote design office. • Must have strong experience in strong client-facing skills and experience and proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams and multi-disciplinary projects. • Knowledge of market trends and competitiveness positioning with demonstrated proficiency in project bidding and proposal preparation with exceptional skills and knowledge of working in a design consultancy, with a strong understanding of international codes, standards and regulations. • Must be passionate about innovative ideas with a proven track record in delivering energy-efficient system and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. • Should have extensive experience working in a design consultancy, both as a designer and a technical authority, with a proven track record in delivering projects in collaboration with remote design centers with no restrictions on traveling overseas (e.g., UAE and KSA) for client meetings and workshops • Membership in a relevant professional body is required and chartered Engineer status is required
