Purpose & Scope of Position The Project Engineer (PE) will be part of an engineering stream providing engineering services to large and small projects. The PE provides support to the Project Manager (PM) and Engineering Manager (EM) and is responsible for supervising a team of working engineer and designers. The PE provides leadership and assists in the resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline. Experience • 10+ years of experience in relevant design discipline • Experience in engineering and package coordination Qualification • Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable) 1. Assist the PM and EM with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule 2. Prepare Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) in consultation with the Engineering Manager 3. Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports 4. Participate in and contribute to design reviews 5. Represent the discipline in the project engineering coordination meetings 6. Prepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria 7. Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists 8. Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required and facilitate the sharing of technical expertise across projects 9. Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design 10. Prepare engineering work (calculations, reports, specifications, evaluations, recommendations etc.) where required 11. Provide and/or coordinate training for resources assigned to the project 12. Work to ensure the implementation of safety in design 13. Ensures measurement of progress on all contracts for reporting and progress claim purposes. 14. Responsible to ensure timely availability of discipline data to other disciplines, and work with fellow PEs and EM on integration of the same and resolution of any issues and challenges 15. Document value additions and best practices and ensure communication of the same to fellow project engineers of other projects and discipline leadership 16. Support technology team/ Project team for development and automation works as required. 17. Ensure compliance to all quality and document management processes within TCE and as agreed with customer. 18. Manage performance data of reportees and provide periodic feedback. 19. Provides resource loading forecast to TL. 20. Keeps records of learning’s during the project and provides inputs to PM during job closure report. 21. Prepare technical specifications/ bid evaluation/ technical recommendation where required 22. Interact with the discipline engineers of customer during entire life cycle of the project and beyond. INDICATIVE KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs) Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's radiation safety program specific to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, adhering to AERB guidelines and other relevant Indian regulations. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines issued by the AERB, state health authorities, and internal policies and procedures related to radiation safety. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safe use of radiation-producing equipment in the Cath lab, including fluoroscopy systems, in accordance with Indian regulatory requirements. Conduct regular radiation safety surveys and inspections of the Cath lab to identify potential radiation hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards as mandated by the AERB. Perform and/or oversee radiation dose monitoring for all personnel working in and around the Cath lab, including the issuance and collection of personal monitoring devices (TLD badges) and the review of exposure reports, ensuring adherence to AERB dose limits. Investigate and document any radiation incidents, spills, or potential overexposures in accordance with AERB reporting requirements, and implement corrective actions, as necessary. Provide comprehensive radiation safety training and education to all relevant personnel, including physicians, technologists, nurses, and support staff, as per AERB stipulations. Maintain accurate and complete records of all radiation safety activities, including surveys, inspections, personnel monitoring records (TLD reports), training records, equipment maintenance logs, and disposal records, as required by the AERB. Oversee the calibration, quality assurance, and maintenance of radiation-producing equipment and radiation detection instruments, ensuring compliance with AERB standards. Advise on the selection, installation, and shielding requirements for new radiation-producing equipment in the cath lab, ensuring compliance with AERB shielding guidelines. Serve as the primary point of contact for the AERB and other regulatory agencies regarding radiation safety matters. Review and approve protocols involving the use of ionizing radiation in the cath lab to ensure radiation safety principles and AERB guidelines are integrated. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to radiation safety and dose optimisation for patients and staff, aligning with international best practices and AERB recommendations. Stay current with changes in radiation safety regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly those issued by the AERB and relevant international bodies. Ensure proper handling and disposal of radioactive waste, if applicable, in compliance with AERB regulations. Perform other duties as assigned to support the radiation safety program and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations in India. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Qualification: Bachelor's degree in medical physics, health physics, radiological physics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Essential: Must possess qualifications and experience as stipulated by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for a Radiation Safety Officer in a medical diagnostic X-ray facility (specifically for cardiac catheterization laboratories). This typically includes a postgraduate degree/diploma in medical physics or radiological physics and relevant experience. Min. 3-5 years of relevant experience working in radiation safety, preferably within a cardiac catheterization laboratory or interventional radiology setting in India, with a strong understanding of AERB regulations. Thorough knowledge of the Atomic Energy Act, rules and regulations framed thereunder by the AERB, and other relevant state and national regulations pertaining to the use of ionizing radiation in healthcare in India. Strong understanding of radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation protection principles, and dosimetry, particularly in the context of medical imaging. Experience with radiation safety instrumentation, survey techniques, and personnel monitoring programs (TLD management) as per AERB guidelines. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills, with the ability to effectively communicate radiation safety concepts to a diverse group of healthcare professionals in India. Preferred Qualification : Certification as a Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) recognized by the AERB for medical diagnostic X-ray facilities. Experience with specific fluoroscopy systems used in cardiac catheterization and their regulatory requirements in India. Familiarity with radiation dose reduction strategies in the Cath lab, considering Indian patient demographics and healthcare practices. Experience with radiation safety software and databases relevant to Indian regulatory requirements.
