Role & responsibilities Conduct daily rounds of ICU with Clinical Associate /Sr.Resident/PA, assessment of patients and to define treatment plan. Management of adverse events or complications Performing procedures including endotracheal intubation, placement of invasive lines, etc. as and when required in the ICU. To supervise these procedures when performed by Sr.Resident/PA To accompany primary consultant on ICU round and discuss important and relevant issues Administrative management of ICU in coordination with nursing. To assign specific administrative responsibilities to Clinical Associate/ Sr.Resident. Interaction with patient attendants to brief them about current status, anticipated recovery and any other specific issues or problems. To be available on call after working hours for clinical/administrative ICU issues. Treat patients and perform clinical procedures as per the clinical privileges authorized. Assisting senior consultants and consultant in managing OPD, IPD & Emergencies patients. Doing the medical procedure as per the consultant doctors advice/supervision after getting the consent from patient’s attendant. Accompany consultant doctors on IPD Ward visits. Monitoring the progress of the patients. Check the diet chart, medicine chart, vitals chart frequently. To ensure that patient’s condition is communicated correctly to the relatives and all their queries are answered appropriately Strictly adhering to the medical ethics & management rules & regulations. To work collectively with the Nursing In charge to bring about quality improvement in the department. To ascertain the strict implementation of various working protocols like BLS, ACLS and infection control Any other tasks assigned by the HOD/ management from time to time. Inspecting the performance and development of nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals in the department. Organizing and leading training programs for department staff. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and efficient allocation of resources, including on-call rotations and shift management. Collaborate with obstetricians, gynaecologists, and other specialists to ensure integrated care for mothers and newborns. Acting as a bridge between the Directors, Chiefs, Sr. Doctors, Medical staff and hospital administration, ensuring smooth communication and operational efficiency. Patient and Family Engagement by ensuring clear communication with doctors and patients' families regarding treatment plans, progress, and outcomes. Ensure the department meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including adherence to safety standards and legal obligations. Conduct regular audits and prepare reports for the management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. Promote and participate in clinical research within the department, aiming to contribute to the advancement of neonatology and pediatric care.
