Job Description

Role & responsibilities Database Installation & Configuration : Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server instances and associated software. Performance Monitoring & Tuning : Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance by troubleshooting, tuning, and recommending improvements for database queries, indexes, and overall system performance. Backup & Recovery : Implement, monitor, and test database backup and recovery procedures to ensure data availability and protection. Database Security : Implement and maintain database security best practices, ensuring user access is controlled and data integrity is maintained. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution : Diagnose and resolve database-related issues and incidents, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and database corruption. Capacity Planning & Upgrades : Help manage the database environments growth, perform database health checks, and apply patches or upgrades to SQL Server instances. Database Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as re-indexing, database consistency checks, and log management. Automation : Automate database-related tasks using scripts or tools to reduce manual intervention and ensure operational efficiency. Collaboration : Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to design, implement, and support the database architecture. Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, troubleshooting steps, and procedures. On-call Support : Provide on-call support for any database-related incidents or escalations.
