As an experienced Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the following tasks related to database management: You will be proficient in backup and recovery processes and tools, ensuring the database's reliability and availability. Your expertise in database knowledge, including logical and physical design, will be instrumental in maintaining an optimal database structure. You will have hands-on experience in troubleshooting database performance issues and implementing query tuning concepts to enhance database efficiency. Performing various data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data will be part of your routine to ensure the accuracy of the database as a reliable data source. You will be responsible for conducting Database Maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats, and monitoring scheduled maintenance tasks based on application team requirements. Efficiently monitoring and managing database space by purging obsolete data, reclaiming space, and identifying/troubleshooting high-priority database issues will be crucial aspects of your role. You will be required to monitor database backups, maintenance jobs, troubleshoot job failures, and collaborate with Operations when necessary to ensure seamless database operations. Continuous monitoring of databases for unusual activities, restrictive states, and periodic log checks for any issues will be essential to maintain database integrity and performance. Refreshing Dev/Test databases with production backup images as requested and working in a collaborative multi-client environment will also be part of your responsibilities. Having knowledge of Cobol Programming and familiarity with Database Third-Party Software tools such as Omegamon, Tmon, BMC Suite, and CA DB2 Toolset will be advantageous for this role. You should be prepared for off-hours support as required and participate in the on-call schedule to address any database-related emergencies promptly. Experience with platforms like z/OS DB2 and IMS is necessary, and familiarity with bonus platforms such as IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, and Datacom will be considered a plus.
