Job Description

A Logistics Operations Executive is responsible for overseeing and managing the logistical activities of a company, ensuring that goods are transported and stored efficiently and cost-effectively. This role requires a combination of organizational, analytical, and communication skills to ensure smooth operations across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation, storage, and distribution of goods.
  • Plan and coordinate shipments, both inbound and outbound, ensuring timely deliveries and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure that logistics operations align with company objectives and meet customer service expectations.
  • Supply Chain Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, warehouse space, and transportation capacity to meet supply chain needs.
  • Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and customers to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Negotiate with carriers and third-party logistics providers to secure the best rates and service agreements.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify areas of inefficiency and implement improvements to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
  • Use data and analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, inventory turnover, and transportation costs.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure that all logistics activities comply with local and international regulations (e.g., customs requirements, safety standards).
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and related transactions.
  • Prepare and file necessary documentation for transportation, customs clearance, and insurance purposes.
  • Team Management and Training:
  • Supervise logistics staff, including warehouse personnel, drivers, and coordinators, to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Provide training to team members on best practices, safety protocols, and compliance regulations.
  • Customer Service and Communication:
  • Liaise with customers to address any logistics-related issues or concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Provide timely updates regarding order status, delays, or changes in shipping schedules.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management:
  • Develop and manage budgets for logistics operations, ensuring cost control and efficiency.
  • Track and report on logistics expenses, identify areas for cost savings, and ensure the financial health of logistics operations.
  • Technology Integration:
  • Utilize logistics management software and other tools to track shipments, manage inventory, and analyze performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological advancements in logistics and supply chain management, integrating new tools when applicable.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, with experience in overseeing day-to-day logistics operations.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient in logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
  • In-depth understanding of supply chain management, transportation, and warehousing.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Certifications (optional but beneficial):
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
  • Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification.

Work Environment:

  • Typically based in an office setting, with frequent visits to warehouses, distribution centers, and transportation hubs.
  • May require flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones or urgent operational needs.

Career Path:

A Logistics Operations Executive may progress to senior roles such as Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Manager, or Operations Director, depending on the company’s structure and individual career growth.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹18,000.00 per month
