Mercor is seeking experienced CAD professionals with strong AutoCAD skills to join a cutting-edge AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab This role focuses on evaluating how effectively a large language model (LLM) can assist in computer-aided design tasks and contributing high-quality AutoCAD-based projects to train and improve the models performance Key Responsibilities: Evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of LLM-assisted CAD outputs (2D drawings, 3D models, technical documentation) Rebuild or enhance CAD projects using AutoCAD to validate and benchmark AI-generated work Identify limitations in AI-driven design workflows and collaborate closely with AI researchers to improve them Troubleshoot common CAD challenges?such as object misalignment, block usage, layers, and standards Provide structured feedback and detailed documentation to support model refinement and development Youre a strong fit if you have: Solid experience with CAD tools and workflows, especially AutoCAD A deep understanding of drafting standards, drawing management, and technical design documentation Familiarity with AutoCAD scripting (LISP/AutoLISP) or automation tools (a plus) An interest in AI-assisted design or smart CAD tooling (preferred but not required) Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently Good communication skills and experience working in remote, asynchronous teams Role Details: Part-time with fully flexible hours 100% remote and asynchronous?work on your own schedule Compensation & Legal: Hourly contractor role via Mercor Weekly payments through Stripe Connect Note: Only candidates with access to a Mac system will be considered, as the AI tooling is currently Mac-only compatible Show more Show less
